As a group, we went out to recce the locations for our opening. We need a bench in a park, a wide wall and a bedroom. First we went to Tonbridge park to find a suitable bench.
Bench

This bench was our first choice. We particularly liked it because the surroundings are suitable for our wide shot. Also the background does not have anything that will distract the viewer yet it is still clear that it is a park. As we were taking pictures we realised our shadows were clearly in the shot. So we researched what time of the day would be best for filming based on where the sun is in the sky - so our shadows do not interfere. It was decided that we should film in the morning when the sun is in the north. Whilst there we made a vlog to explain our thought process:

After looking at that bench we found another that looked to be even better. It was also in tonbridge park.
We thought this one suits our vision more as in the wide shot there will be a better background. Also in the far corner there is what looks like a football goal. This means when the two boys run across the shot it will relate. This natural lighting we are happy with however it is not certain what the lighting will be like on shooting day so we could experiment with shining lights into the shot.
We made a vlog at this bench as well.
We also decided to record the natural park sounds as a test for the real one we will be recording. This was recorded with an iphone however for the real recording we plan to use a microphone to avoid the muffled sound.
Brick wall

We looked at brick walls in tonbridge. We found a few that were contenders.
This was the first that we thought could work as we need a wall that is tall and wide so the wide shot works effectively. However we realised that the grass ruined the urban look and would not make it clear that it is outside a club.
This was another wall we thought would be suitable if the car was not park in front. It has a very urban look and is very wide. However the post would ruin the vision we have for this scene.

This wall we considered when first looking at it because it is very tall wide, working well for our wide shot. However on closer inspection we realised it does not look like it is outside a club because it is very clean and neighbourhood-like.

This wall is the most suitable in my opinion. It has the rough-dirty look we are striving for and has the proper width and length.
Bedroom

We have decided to use this bedroom as it suits our vision very well. We envisioned a large bed in the middle of the room. The size of the rest of the room is not as crucial because whilst panning around the camera will be very zoomed in on the objects. Also it is the house of one our team members so availability is not an issue.
