Final idea

The final idea is very similar to our original idea about drugs. However, after feedback, we decided to make it an indie comedy drama. The protagonist will still be a teenage girl. We are also still gonna use continuous tracking and panning shots to create the dream-like feel that often comes with films about drugs. Our colour palette is more colourful, warm tones to clearly show that it is a comedy. I also believe that fits well with the theme of drugs as the colourfulness reflects the feeling of being on drugs.
Our vision is for the opening to start on a black screen with the ambient sounds of a park. This will fade into a shot of a girl sitting on a bench in a park smoking - for this scene we plan to use rule of thirds.

For our actual shot we plan to have more colours that fit our colour scheme. We will do this by picking a park that has a more colours or adding a filter.

The camera will slowly zoom in to the character. As this is happening a two young boys will run past chasing each other screaming exaggeratedly for comedic effect. The main character will have no reaction and the camera will not carry on zooming, not focusing on them. After that music will start playing that carries on for the rest of the opening.

The camera will zoom right in to the characters eyes so the screen eventually goes black. However as soon as it zooms in it will zoom out again.

When the camera zooms out it will reveal that she is in a different location. She will be leaning on a brick wall doing some sort of drugs - most probably cocaine. We will make it apparent that she is outside a club or party through the lighting - neon type lights shining on the wall.

For this shot we will use rule of thirds, but we plan to have it a lot more zoomed out. So we can see her whole body.

The camera will pan around her in one continuous shot, showing her using the drugs. This continuous shot is to make it seem slightly psychedelic.

An example of what it will look like when the camera is panning around her.

Again the camera will zoom right into her eye. Then zoom out showing she is in a different location. She will be in a messy bedroom lying on a bed.

It will zoom out to just her face and a bit of her upper body. Her eyes will be dilated, bloodshot. We will experiment with makeup to create a purple-red look around her eyes. She will be sweating slightly and shivering. This is to make it obvious she is on drugs.

The shot will change to one at the end of her bed looking down at her whole body. It will stay there for a few seconds showing her twitching, shivering.

We did not particularly like this practise shot so decided to change it so the bed is in the middle of the room and the camera will be at the foot of the bed looking down, so her body is not shown from a birds eye view.

After this the camera will pan around the room slowly very zoomed in to show the objects. There will objects such as pills, cocaine, cigarettes to show her addiction. It will also be very messy with clothes strewn everywhere, old mugs, bottles, magazines, books, Our credits will be embedded into the products. For example on the cigarette packet instead of the smoking warning it will have credits on it.

Sound Palette

The music we want is something similar to this:

We want this because the blues, soul type sound fits our indie comedy genre and we believe it fits with our colour scheme.
